About Me – Northern Ontario French Immersion Teacher & Tutor

Bonjour! I’m Madame Boudreau, a Northern Ontario French Immersion teacher and tutor with over 30 years of classroom experience helping students succeed in French Immersion and English Language Arts. My passion is guiding children through the challenges of learning in two languages with lessons that are creative, engaging, and tailored to each learner’s needs.

Throughout my career, I have witnessed how the right support can enhance confidence, improve academic performance, and foster a lifelong love of learning. I believe education should be exciting and rewarding, and I bring that philosophy to every tutoring session. Whether your child needs help with reading, writing, grammar, conversational skills, or social skills, I make learning fun, effective, and encouraging—available both online and in-person.

My Life Beyond the Classroom

When I’m not teaching, you might find me exploring nature in Northern Ontario, enjoying time with my chickens—including my favourite silkie, Lulu—or creating new ways to inspire students. These moments remind me of the joy of curiosity and discovery, which I aim to pass on to my learners.

Resources for French Immersion Teachers

In addition to one-on-one tutoring, I launched this website to support teachers—especially those working in French Immersion—by offering easy, high-quality resources they can use right away. From classroom management and discipline to lesson planning and evaluations, you’ll find practical tips and proven strategies to make teaching more enjoyable and less stressful.

My First Day Teaching French

I still remember stepping into my very first classroom back in 1997—a Grade 6 Core French class! I’m sure my students could sense how nervous I was. When I asked the homeroom teacher for advice, his only words were, “Survive.” That moment has stuck with me, and over the years, I’ve learned that teaching is about so much more than just surviving.

A Gift to New Teachers

This site is also a gift to any new teachers entering the profession. Teaching French Immersion truly is a blessing—it’s engaging, rewarding, and yes, it can be fun and easy when you have the right mindset and resources.

To every teacher out there: the children need you to be soft, kind, loving, calm, and yes, a little bit cool. Smile often. Make them laugh. Remind them they are in a safe place. Tell them you believe in them and that they are the best students in the world. Sometimes, that’s all it takes for a child to truly thrive.

Why I Love Being a Northern Ontario French Immersion Teacher

Teaching French Immersion in Northern Ontario has been the most rewarding experience of my life, as it allows me to empower students with skills that open doors to future opportunities. French Immersion is more than just grammar and vocabulary—it’s about exploring culture, fostering curiosity, and igniting a love of learning. By creating lessons that spark excitement and discovery, I help each child build their confidence and embrace their unique strengths.

Sharing my passion for language and supporting the growth of my community is a true privilege, and I am committed to helping every student reach their full potential.

7 Proven Ways I Help Students Succeed in French Immersion

As a Northern Ontario French Immersion teacher and tutor, I’ve developed strategies over my 30+ years of teaching that make a real difference in student success. Here are seven ways I help learners thrive:

  1. Personalized Lesson Plans – Every child learns differently, so I tailor lessons to match their needs, interests, and learning style.

  2. Confidence Building – I use encouragement, patience, and positive reinforcement to help students believe in themselves.

  3. Interactive Activities – Learning is more engaging when it’s fun! I use games, stories, and creative exercises to make French come alive.

  4. Real-Life Language Practice – I focus on practical vocabulary and conversation skills so students can confidently use French outside the classroom.

  5. Reading and Writing Support – From phonics to grammar, I help students strengthen the skills they need for both schoolwork and lifelong learning.

  6. Test and Assignment Preparation – I guide students through study strategies and practice activities that reduce stress and improve results.

  7. Ongoing Parent Communication – I keep families informed with progress updates and strategies they can use at home to support learning.

With these proven methods, I help students not only improve academically but also enjoy the journey of learning French and English.

According to the Ontario Ministry of Education, learning French opens many doors for students.
